Doctorate Degree

The Ph.D. program in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Institute of Fine Arts is structured as a four-year curriculum primarily taught in Turkish. The program is designed for individuals holding a Master's degree with a thesis in related fields such as Interior Architecture, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design, and Urban Planning. Admission is competitive and based on an entrance examination that assesses design skills, theoretical knowledge, and the candidate's potential for contributing original scientific and artistic works. The program aims to foster the development of new methods and techniques in theory and practice, encouraging interdisciplinary correlations.

The qualification awarded upon completion is a Doctorate, aligning with Level 3 of the QF-EHEA and Level 8 of the EQF-LLL. Prospective students must meet specific language proficiency requirements and pass a comprehensive entrance exam that includes design and written components as well as an oral examination. The evaluation criteria for admission consider both academic and examination performance.

To graduate, students must complete 240 ECTS (equivalent to 21 national credits), including mandatory and elective courses, with a minimum GPA of 3.00, and successfully defend their dissertation. The program’s coursework is predominantly elective, offering flexibility in focusing on areas of interest within the discipline.

Graduates are well-prepared for academic and research careers, capable of contributing innovative and analytical solutions in design. They can also pursue opportunities in project development, implementation, and coordination within private and governmental organizations or operate their own businesses. The program supports further academic pursuits and is designed to enhance the design culture through scientific and artistic knowledge production.
